About A.I.R.S.

Welcome to our Animal Sanctuary and Shelter, a safe haven dedicated to rescuing and caring for abused, abandoned, neglected, and sick animals. Our mission extends to providing shelter and support for pregnant mothers, neglected puppies, and those suffering from injuries, ensuring they receive the care and compassion they deserve. Our sanctuary is a loving and secure environment where older animals, often overlooked, can spend their remaining days in comfort and joy.

To protect our residents, our facility is fully enclosed, safeguarding them from fires, snakes, and other hazards, and providing a safe area for visitors.

We are committed to the comprehensive care of every animal we harbour. This includes neutering and microchipping, as well as regular medical check-ups in partnership with local veterinarians.

Our fostering and rehoming programs, in collaboration with registered rehoming charities both in Cyprus and abroad, work tirelessly to find loving homes for our animals.

To sustain our efforts, we organize regular fundraising events and distribute collection tins to help cover veterinary bills and feeding costs. Through these initiatives and with your support, we strive to make a meaningful difference in the lives of the animals we care for, giving them a chance at the good life they deserve.

About Keith Newman

I started my career learning to be a chef and after going to college for 2 years in catering I decided to join the army catering corp to follow my father's footsteps as he served for many years in the Royal Green Jackets. After 4 years of service I decided that an army career was not for me. So, I continued my career as a chef for a few years before I decided that I wanted to learn everything about catering and moved out of the kitchen into catering management.

After 35 years of management, working in England and Gran Canaria for 8 years I climbed the ladder to a GM position back in Birmingham. After working this role for 5 years I got the opportunity to move to Cyprus for a new job, new life and a chance to break free from the rat race of England.

After packing up and moving to Cyprus in 2017, I was lucky to start my own business, which I did for 3 years. Meanwhile, I got to meet my first stray dog that would come and see me and my dogs every day so I used to feed him and look after him. After about 3 months he came one day and never left. When I decided to close the business, I found Bobo, as I called him, a new loving home with a friend of mine, and to this day he is still with her living a great life.

I decided that I wanted to help the stray, abandoned, and sick dog problem here in Cyprus. So I contacted the nearest animal shelter and offered to volunteer. I was shocked at how many dogs this shelter was housing and trying to rehome. I learned a lot about the types of dogs that were out there that needed help and in what way they needed help. I wanted to learn more and so I volunteered at another shelter to gain more experience and knowledge. After my volunteering period of time, I was planning and designing my own animal charity in the hope one day to be able to make it real. Then an opportunity came into my life that gave me the chance to start bringing my dreams of the charity to life.

It has not been an easy few years with some very sad animal losses, which for me was a very hard thing to deal with but I knew there would be others. The charity now, although still a small one in comparison to others here in Cyprus, is going from strength to strength while I live together with the dogs. There are no cages or chains for the dogs that I care for and they get two good meals a day. All the dogs that are under our care from strays, abandoned, sick, pregnant, and disabled live together. Sometimes, well most times I end up in a sleeping bag on the floor as they take over my bedroom – lol – but at the end of the day they are safe, warm, well looked after, well fed and have regular visits to the vets for health checks and boosters. I neuter them and microchip them all as well as having full medical history for the new owners to view before rehoming.

I am a believer in the fact that these dogs will be great in their new homes as they learn how to be with other dogs, playtime, car training, house training and of course relaxing time. They love meditation music to sleep to lol.
